Kamuganguzi, Uganda – Thursday, 9th July 2026

Students and teachers of Kamuganguzi Janan Luwum Memorial Secondary School officially kicked off the school's Annual Sports Day 2026 celebrations with a vibrant health walk from the school premises to Katuna Border, bringing together the school community in a spirit of unity, fitness, and teamwork.

The health walk formed the opening activity of a day dedicated to celebrating sports, recreation, and student participation. Learners and staff members walked together, demonstrating the importance the school places on physical wellness, active lifestyles, and the development of strong bonds within the school community.

The activity was designed to promote healthy living, physical fitness, endurance, and teamwork among students and teachers. Beyond physical exercise, the walk provided an opportunity for members of the school community to interact, build friendships, and strengthen the spirit of togetherness that defines student life at Kamuganguzi Janan Luwum Memorial Secondary School.

Following the successful completion of the health walk, attention turned to the main Sports Day programme, featuring a variety of sporting competitions and recreational activities. Students participated in different events that encouraged teamwork, discipline, talent development, and healthy competition among classes.

Sports and recreation remain an important part of student life at the school, supporting the institution's commitment to holistic education. Through activities such as athletics, football, netball, volleyball, and other co-curricular programmes, students are encouraged to develop physical skills, leadership abilities, confidence, and teamwork.

As a church-founded institution, Kamuganguzi Janan Luwum Memorial Secondary School continues to promote a balanced approach to education—combining academic excellence with spiritual growth, discipline, character development, and community involvement. Events such as the Annual Sports Day provide learners with opportunities to discover their talents while building values that prepare them for future leadership.

The school administration appreciated the participation and enthusiasm shown by both students and teachers during the health walk and encouraged the entire school community to continue embracing activities that promote health, unity, and personal growth.

The Annual Sports Day 2026 celebrations stand as a reminder that education extends beyond the classroom, creating opportunities for students to grow physically, socially, and emotionally while developing the confidence and responsibility needed to make a positive contribution to society.
