Kamuganguzi Janan Luwum Memorial Secondary School proudly held its first-ever Inter-Class Debate Competition as part of the Annual Sports Day celebrations on Thursday, 9th July, marking an important milestone in the school's commitment to holistic student development.

The competition, which had been running throughout the previous month, brought together students from various classes in a series of engaging preliminary debates. Participants demonstrated remarkable confidence, research skills, critical thinking, and public speaking abilities as they debated contemporary issues before panels of adjudicators and fellow students.

After several competitive rounds, Senior Three and Senior Four emerged as the finalists, earning their place in the championship debate through outstanding performances.

The final debate centered on the thought-provoking motion:

"This House Believes that Former Colonial Powers Should Pay Financial Reparations to Their Former Colonies."

Both teams presented well-researched arguments, challenged opposing viewpoints respectfully, and displayed impressive analytical and communication skills. The debate encouraged students to examine historical events, global justice, economics, and international relations while developing the confidence to express informed opinions in a structured and respectful environment.

The introduction of the Inter-Class Debate Competition reflects the school's dedication to nurturing learners beyond academic achievement alone.
